Jake Paul began his legal career in Geneva, Alabama, where he practiced law as a general practitioner with Paul, Fleming, and Paul and later with Paul and Paul, handling a wide variety of cases that refined his skills across multiple legal disciplines. Over the years, he has dedicated his practice to aiding clients through some of life’s most pivotal moments, whether writing wills and deeds, administering estates, or representing clients in bankruptcy cases. Born and raised in Geneva, Alabama, Jake graduated from Dartmouth College in 1971 with a major in History and a minor in French. His time at Dartmouth was marked by a dedication to learning and service, which would later define his professional career. After his undergraduate studies, Jake served in the U.S. Navy for two years at the Naval Material Command Headquarters in Washington, D.C., gaining experience and discipline that would become valuable in his future legal career.
Jake earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1976, where he focused on taxation and estate planning. He further expanded his expertise by pursuing a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning at Portland State University School of Urban Affairs, graduating in 1980. His studies there led him to valuable work as a land use planner, where he honed his analytical and problem-solving skills.
His career as a planner included positions in Oregon, where he worked with land use lawyer Diane Spies to resolve a significant injunction case in Columbia County, served as a planner in Multnomah County, and held the role of planning coordinator in Yamhill County. Upon his return to Alabama, Jake continued his planning work with Wainwright Planning, an Airport Noise Planning firm in Montgomery, AL, and later renewed his planning skills in Florida as a planning coordinator/reviewer for the St. Johns River Water Management District in Palatka, FL.
